The above photo shows the winner of the 3foot Easter egg we raffled at the food and drink expo in Birmingham. We raised £250 from the sale of raffle tickets which is going to our friends in Kumi, Uganda at COHAD where we have had the pleasure to work with and get to know the most wonderful people and children in this small village. The winners of our easter eg raffle were Michele & Steve Mapplethorpe from www.handmadefudgeshop.co.uk , who have very kindly given it to Cornwall Children’s Hospice.

Rich with the Giant Easter Egg Raffle prize
We are very pleased to announce our raffle draw of this unique 3ft giant Easter egg, handmade and decorated by the team at Choc-affair here in York, from the finest FairTrade chocolate.
All proceeds from the raffle are going to our friends in Kumi, Uganda at COHAD where we have had the pleasure to work with and get to know the most wonderful people and children in this small village.

If you didn’t know about it – the Choc-affair Chicks – Gilly, Linda, Mariah, Olivia and Ella recently went to do mission work in a small town in Uganda, working with the Children of Hope and Dignity (COHAD) and with Mission Direct.

We met the most amazing people who are struggling through very difficult circumstances every day of their lives as a result of war, HIV, famine and even extreme rainy seasons. Whilst survival is a daily challenge we found people full of grace, hope and love. There was laughter and tears in each day as we were faced with the reality of other people’s daily life.

Ade dropped to see Don Grundy at ‘ Deli on Duckhil’, a local shop and Delicatessen in Ripon. Whilst trying some Glendale Ginger, a non-alcoholic ginger wine made to a unique 300 year-old recipe and made in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, you can see on the counter some of our fairtrade chocolate gifts including our Hot chocolate Drink Stick and our Fairtrade milk chocolate bars. Ade also tried some Wenslydale and Coverdale cheese that are made in North Yorkshire and he took some Coverdale cheese with him to serve to guests later along with cake.
The Christmas Market is held every year on the first weekend in December, the historic market town of Knaresborough steps back in time for one weekend, to recreate an unforgettable festive experience for everyone, young and old! The cobbled Market Square and surrounding lanes and courtyards are filled with festive delights to awaken your senses!
