5 Ideas for Bonfire Night

All of us at Choc affair love a bonfire; but we wanted to know what we can do to make it extra special, especially when you have friends and family coming round for the evening. Bonfire night should be a cosy night, with warming winter food, good music and of course; a few fireworks wouldn’t go amiss! We have found some amazing ideas to give your evening the ‘wow’ factor, and thought we would share them with you.

  1. Cosy Corner

We are aware that having a bonfire requires being outside for quite some time; and you don’t want your guests to go inside and miss all of the fun! So, why not offer them a stand of blankets, gloves, hats etc to keep them warm? We think this is a lovely idea, and looks fabulous!

  1. Toffee Apple Bonfire Punch

This is a lovely idea for the adults; a little less crunchy on the teeth, but the same impact of flavour that you get from a sweet toffee apple (plus a little bit of booze)! Nothing says bonfire like this winter drink recipe.

  1. Marshmallow Toasting

We don’t think you can quite have a bonfire night get together and not toast some marshmallows! As part of the tradition on 5th November, toasting marshmallows on the fire is both fun and delicious; and you could even try making some s’mores whilst you are at it!

  1. Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate is the ultimate winter drink; but we know that it’s impossible to enjoy your evening if you are making multiple mugs of hot chocolate one by one! With this recipe, you can make one huge amount of hot chocolate, and allow people to help themselves. This one in particular shows extra bits that people can enjoy putting on top of their drink, so offers a little bit more fun to the evening. You can also use our delightful drinking chocolates in this recipe for an extra bit of indulgence.

  1. Garden Lanterns

Create a cute atmosphere with these homemade lanterns. Simply pop a tea light or small candle into a glass jar, and spread around the garden (but please be aware of the children – perhaps use LED battery candles to be on the safe side)!

We hope you enjoy your evening – but please do be careful. We realise that there are a lot of safety issues on bonfire night, and although we wish everyone a fantastic night – please do be careful!
