Lime and Lavender Chocolate Bars

This month we are introducing #FlavourFocus, a collection of recipes, blogs and interesting facts about our flavour of the month – which for April 2018 is our Lime & Lavender Milk Chocolate Bar! This zesty and floral chocolate bar is infused with a blend of beautiful citrus flavours, and hints of deep lavender for the ultimate tasting experience. The flavour of this chocolate may sound a little unusual; but we say, don’t knock it ‘till you try it! Our flavour blends are what makes our chocolate just that little bit different…

As part of #FlavourFocus, we wanted to explore the flavours of our Lime & Lavender Milk Chocolate a bit more, so we have put together a collection of interesting facts about these wonderful natural ingredients that may take you by surprise!

  1. Lavender is in the same plant family as Mint

Who’d have thought? But yes, it is true – Lavender does indeed originate from the same family as Mint. Both of these edible plants have very distinctive aromas, and work extremely well together in terms of scent and taste. Other plants in this family include Oregano, Rosemary and Sage.

  1. Lavender doesn’t just grow as purple

There are over 400 different species of Lavender across the world, some of which are actually green, pink and white!

  1. There is such thing as a ‘sweet’ lime

Limes can actually grow with only a small amount of citric acid, meaning that their taste is much more sweet than the usual lime – they are known as ‘sweet limes’ and grow in the tropics.

  1. Limes produce flowers

Lime flowers are actually star shaped and yellow/white in colour – they usually grow in small groups, and have a beautiful aroma.

  1. Limes are a source of Vitamin C

There are many benefits of Vitamin C, including mood improvement, better iron absorption and improved blood circulation and limes are a great source of this!

We can often be surprised at the wonders of combining flavours, and natural sources of ingredients can create a super tasty quality product that will leave your taste buds tingling!
